Dr. Alma received her undergraduate degree at the University of San Carlos and Medical degree at the Cebu Institute of Medicine both in Cebu City, Philippines. She completed a rural and urban postgraduate internship at Cebu General Hospital, followed by a year doing medical research in Copenhagen, Denmark, then completed a Pediatric Residency program from 1980 to 1983 at King’s County Hospital – Downstate Medical Center, State University of New York in Brooklyn, NY. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics. She has courtesy staff privileges at Lancaster General Hospital.
Dr. Alma is a member of the AAMA (American Academy of Medical Acupuncture). She received her Physician Course training for Medical Acupuncture at UCLA (University of California – Los Angeles). Further training included a Clinical Certificate in Five Elements Acupuncture in Sacramento, California. She completed one year of the Master’s Program at The Traditional Acupuncture Institute in Columbia, Maryland, in 2000. In 2002 she was awarded a Certificate Diploma for completing an overseas program of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Herbology at Xiamen University, China. She studied under Dr. Li Zaicong, a pre-revolutionary Taoist Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
